Example Dutch Soccer Drills - Teaching The Most Advanced Techniques The Easiest Way

Before you attempt to teach, for example Dutch soccer drills to your players, the first thing that is very important for you to understand is its philosophy. The Dutch method of coaching soccer focuses basically on developing the foot skills of the players.

If the players know when and how to use their foot technique in order to turn the game in their favor, the objective of winning the game can easily be achieved. Expertise in foot skills prepares a strong foundation for them to learn other techniques and tricks of the game.

Always remember that as a coach, your primary function is to build a training program to develop the various soccer skills in the players in a way that could produce winning in the game as a by-product.

Key Elements Of The Training Program

No matter whatever example Dutch soccer drills you are attempting, always keep in mind the following two key elements. The success of your training program will very much depend on them.

•  Discipline is important, but make sure that it does not cross the limits. The main reason why players fail to win a game is the fear of failure. You have to work on to eradicate this fear from your players' mind.

•  Winning is all in the mind. However, as a coach, you do not have to focus on winning alone. Instead, you should focus on developing the skills of the players. As said earlier, winning is a by-product, or better say, a natural extension of skills.

The Ball And The Feet

  • The activities for the advanced soccer drills must revolve around the ball and the feet. You have to teach your players how to control the ball and think in a flash how to treat the ball after getting the control - whether you should pass the ball to another team mate or get into the attacking mode by dribbling past several defenders.
  • However, just because you are teaching the advanced skills through Dutch soccer drills , it does not mean that you should ignore the fun factor. On the field, players have to make quick decisions, which is possible only if they are enjoying the game.
  • Like most of the Dutch soccer exercises, you should also try to include a variety of one-on-one situations in your training program. Small-sided games are perhaps the best way to help your players achieve the mastery of functioning as a part of a team.
