How To Develop Soccer Drills That Teach Receiving Grounded Balls

When it comes to developing the soccer drills that teach receiving grounded balls , it is very important for you to have your players understand that how vital is a good first touch.

The more touches your players will make in order to get control of the ball, the lesser will be the perfection in their next action - whether it is passing, dribbling, or shooting. Practicing the one touch soccer drills will substantially improve the fluidity of the players on the field.

The key to effective coaching here is to teach the players about how to deftly maneuver the ball off the pass. The greatest thing about these kinds of drills is that the opponent gets no time to judge your next action with the ball.

It will also result in creation of more space for the players to move through rapidly. Overall, your players will be on an attacking position all the time and they will get more opportunities of scoring goals.

The soccer drills that teach receiving grounded balls must be constructed as a complete coaching session. It means it is always great to include a small-sided game and a suitable warm up along with a couple of soccer passing drills.

Let me share with you an effective football drills that instruct how to receive grounded balls that you may consider to include in your training session.

Set Up

Have the players divided into two small teams of at least four players each. Give the ball to one of the teams. A 10X10 or 15X15 yard area is good enough to practice this drill.

Activity

Ask the players of the first team to pass the ball in anti-clockwise direction to the first player in the second team, who will again follow with the passes. Here, you have to make sure that the receiving player is tapping the ball softly by the incoming passer, and then passes the ball to the first player in the second team.

While the players are practicing the soccer drills that teach receiving grounded balls , you have to focus on teaching them how to get control of the ball in one touch by drawing back their foot as the ball arrives. What is more, once you find that the players have become a bit comfortable with the activity, you should increase the difficulty level by introducing another ball. You can now ask the two teams to pass and receive the ball diagonally.
