U-14 Soccer Drills - Learning The Art Right!

U-14 soccer drills can help children learn the right techniques to play soccer and help them focus more on the right methods from the very beginning making them good soccer players.

Exercise, Exercise!

Following are some of the good U -14 soccer drills:

  1. Attacking From The Midfield: This drill is useful for U10, U12, U14, U16, U17 as well as for those above U17. This drill helps lay stress on attacking from the midfield. In this drill the coach must divide the field into 3rds with the use of cones.

In the defensive third, a keeper must be placed in the goal and have two defensive players to play against the attacking players. In the middle third the coach must put 3 defensive and 4 attacking midfield players respectively.

When the coach passes the ball to the attacking midfielders the attackers should enter the arena and attack immediately.
  2. The Pirate Game: This drill serves the best if played with 8 players but not more than 20. In case of this drill a circle must be made roughly the size of the centre circle and a Pugg net must be placed in the center of the circle.

Of the 12 players, 9 players must be given the ball and the rest 3 act as pirates. In case of this drill the pirates are supposed to defend the players with the ball. As soon as the pirates win the ball, they get to score on the Pugg net. If the pirate is able to score the goal, that player becomes a pirate.

The game must be played till the last pirate wins the ball. This drill helps lay focus on dribbling, defending, attacking as well as possession.

3. Finding The Target Player: This drill helps the defensive and the midfield players to locate and play with the target players. In this drill the coach must divide the players into two teams and build a grid of size 40X40 yards.

Each team should then build a 10X10 grid, and the target player is to be placed there. The teams are supposed to play against each other and the team scores a point when they are able to take possession of the ball and strike the ball into their target. The team scores a point if the target player can successfully control the ball in the grid.

4. 3 Minute Shooting Drill: A great way to start soccer warm up, this drill allows the coach to focus on shooting and goal keeping. In case of this drill the players are divided into two teams and a goalkeeper is placed in the goal.

One team is placed behind the goal while the other is placed at the midfield. Each team is given 3 minutes each to shoot the goal and 3 minutes to clear the ball from behind the goal. The attacking team scores one point for each goal scored. After 3 minutes the teams switch roles.

As well as football / soccer drills for 12 year olds, the U -14 soccer drills are a great way to help amateur players transform into refined and successful soccer players!
