Effective Soccer Workout Routine

Soccer workout routine would require you to have a very strong will to stick to your program on a daily basis.

It does take time to develop these qualities, but if you are determined enough then you would surely be able to successfully follow your routine.

Anybody, who is a player, should understand that his body has an unlimited potential, so there is always scope for improvement. Never feel that you have reached the ultimate level of fitness, as you can still get better.

In order for your actual fitness to match with your potential fitness, develop a very strong determination. A player needs to be regular with his soccer players work out and follow all the rules avidly.

The workout routine should have a combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercises. Besides this, the player should train to improve and repeat his sprint ability. He should also train to maximize his speed, strength and power to play an effective game.

Soccer Workouts - Some Program Principles

  • Always combine strength and cardio training- During your circuit training, these would offer you maximum benefits. Cardio training improves the heart rate range and also helps the efficiency of the lungs. You would also lose many calories in the process. The strength training would shape your body and tone up your muscles. Non-stop resistance training helps burn approximately 25% more calories. With the following soccer workout routine you would immediately look and even feel better.
  • Never stop exercising- The principle of reversibility states that you would soon lose what you have gained if you stop exercising. Your strength and endurance will diminish and you would gain all your lost weight if you deviate from your diet plan. A soccer players workout should involve increasing the intensity of the program if you intend to decrease the frequency of the workouts. If you don't then your metabolism will soon return to the pre exercise level. Try and maintain a regular level of fitness by doing at least one round of circuit everyday.
  • Remember to always perform a warm-up and a cool down. Not doing a proper warm-up is the main cause of injuries. Try doing some on-the-spot jogging for a couple of minutes and some light stretching exercises in the beginning of the workout. You would be able to relax a bit through a warm-up before starting the hectic schedule. Professional soccer workout would always recommend performing a stretching schedule for at least 10 to 15 minutes before starting the workout.

Fatigue would often catch up following the workout routine. Plan the order in which you want to perform the exercises to prevent or even delay the onset of fatigue. Correct soccer workout routine should ideally exercise the large group of muscles before the small muscle groups. Try different workout designs to improve and provide variety to your daily routine.
