How To Soccer: Teaching Attacking And Positioning

By Andre Botelho (SoccerDrillsTips.com) - Quick Tips

If you are coaching how to kick a soccer ball or the various aspects of the how to soccer to your players, one of the first few things that you must teach your players is about basic attacking principles and positioning.

There are mainly three types of attacking positions. Make sure that your players know about that thoroughly.

If you're teaching soccer, it is your task to teach them how to make the best use of each of these attacking positions.

  • The first attacking player is the one that carries the ball. His or her main task is to retain possession of the ball while getting closer to the opponent’s goal.

This attacking player needs to be stronger and be an expert in dribbling, passing or shooting the ball with pace and accuracy.

  • The second attacking player is the one who is in a position to get easy passes from the first attacker.

Sometimes, when the first attacker finds himself or herself in a huge traffic from the defenders of the opponent team, he or she will look for a teammate to pass the ball.

The second attacker is that particular teammate.

When it comes to how to soccer, there is a third attacking player as well whose main task is to unbalance the defence of the opponent team by making deep runs.
