Kids Soccer Drills: Getting Started

It is of paramount importance that you design and develop the various kids soccer drills in a way that is highly interesting and fun for the kids.

Coaching soccer routines to kids is different from coaching soccer to young girls or young players in general. You must keep in mind the mental state of the kids while you are developing the specific drills for them.

It is always recommended to use the following basic drills for kids, as they would love to do that.

  • The most proven kids soccer drills in this regard are the once where you have all the kids dribble and shoot the ball simultaneously. In this drill, you will need many soccer balls.

You will start the drill by putting the kids on a single goal line while the balls will be scattered around the field. Now, as you blow the whistle, the kids should run and start dribbling and shooting the ball.

  • You can also use the kids soccer drills where your players are supposed to shoot the ball with just one touch.

For this, you can divide the players in two small teams and position them in a queue – at least 40 feet from the goal post guarded by a goalkeeper.

Now, you will throw the ball to one queue and the one taking the strike must shoot the ball towards the goal with just one touch.

Kids Soccer Drills: Making Quick Decisions In The Field

The various kids' soccer drills might be easy to design and develop, and it may help your players learn a wide array of tricks and techniques, regarding the various aspects of a soccer game. But, if you want to make sure that your players are capable to use the specific trick and technique in specific situations,

it is important for you to have your drills designed in a way that could help your players make quick decision on the field. Always remember that using the techniques and soccer skills on the field, might be an easy task, but making quick decisions regarding passing, kicking, shooting, and dribbling the ball is something that seeks ultimate decision-making capabilities in your players,

Therefore, while you are having your players practice the various kids soccer drills and practice games, your focus must be to encourage them to take instant decision on their own that what they should do with the ball in a specific situation.

If they do something wrong, correct them. But again, make sure that you do not criticize them much for their mistakes. It may hurt their motivation. You have to keep your lecture short and impressive.
