The rules of futsal soccer can be read about on the internet or the various manuals which are readily available. These rules are basically guidelines for the various components of the game.

Like the number of players per team, the size of the field, the size of the ball and the age levels appropriate for the different games. Thought the rules laid by the USYSA are not mandatory, still they are adopted by many states for their state level and other international soccer matches.

So, what are the rules of indoor soccer?

Rules Of Futsal Soccer

  • The field dimensions for youth soccer have been modified for maximum touches. The field is around 20' wide x 30' long for micro soccer and 70' x 110' long for 11x11 games.
  • The ball size is as follows-
    1. A#3 size for U6 AND U9 players.
    2. A#4 size for U10 and U12 players.
    3. A#5 size for U13 and above.
  • The number of players can range from 3 players to 11 players per team.
  • The equipment required by the players includes the shin guards with socks that should completely cover the shin guards. No jewelry and no baseball cleats are allowed.
  • In an 11x11 game two assistants help the referee. It is the job of the referee to enforce all the regulations of the game. His main concern is the safety of the players.
  • The duration of youth indoor soccer rules say that league games can range from two 20 minutes halves till 45 minutes halves. Some games even have four 12 minutes quarters in their games.
  • The kick off takes place at the center point. It is determined by a coin toss.
  • The ball is considered out of play when it has totally crossed the goal line or the touch line.
  • A goal would be scored only when the ball goes completely across the line into the goal area.
  • Fouls are granted when activities such as pushing, holding or tripping takes place between the players.
  • A penalty kick is awarded if the player commits a foul in a penalty area that belongs to them.

The coach must ensure that his team members are well versed in the rules of futsal soccer. He must encourage them to read more about the regulations set up by FIFA, so that they are confident enough on the field. The rules must all be put into practice in the regular coaching practice sessions.
