Coaches who train young players need to teach and educate them about soccer rules and regulations elementary school. It is necessary to train the students to instill sportsmanship and to help them learn all aspects of the game.

As per Law 1 of the football rules and regulations, the play area has to be rectangular with a minimum length of 25 yards and a maximum length of 35 yards. The minimum width has to be 20 yards and the maximum width 25 yards.

Cones may be utilized to mark off boundaries and the field of play must be divided in two by a halfway line. Flat disc cones can be used to mark the goal or coaches can use lined fields too. The penalty area, flag post, corner arc should ideally conform to FIFA standards.

The elementary school rules for soccer mandate that a ball of size 3-4 be used and as per law 3 there have to be two teams with not more than 4 players in each team. The teams have no goalkeepers. This makes it a little bit different than the basic rules of college soccer. Co-ed matches and are allowed and each player has to play at least 50% of the total playing time.

Each game has to have a referee who will explain any infringement to the player who commits them. The match will be divided into 4 parts of 12 minutes' duration. An interval of 5 minutes is to be given after halftime.

Any foul will be explained and no cards will be issued to the players as per the rules for soccer. There will be no penalty kick and other kicks will conform to FIFA regulations and rules except that the opponents remain 4 yards from the ball.

The coaches have to bear in mind that kids will learn well if they are taught in a fun manner. They must not be harsh on the kids but encourage them and speak positively to them. The coaches can make learning fun by using a variety of training drill including beach soccer sessions, if possible.

The players have to be taught to follow the rules and be educated in fair play practices. Remember that training elementary school children can be different and the rules are a bit different from the basic rules of college soccer.
