Instructions On How To Be A Good Defender In Soccer
One often asked question by players is "How to be a good defender in soccer". The perfect answer to this question is the more you play against defenders, the more you learn. Good defending is all about the balance of experience and fitness. With time and experience, you would learn what to expect from an attacker. If you are a good defender, then you would never get beaten by the same trick more than once.
Some Drills On How To Be A Good Defender In Soccer
If you want to become a good defender, then you have to be very quick and agile.
Make sure to mark your opponent tightly so that no one passes to him.
Do not try to take the ball from the carrier, try and stay with the opponent as much as possible.
Do not attempt sliding tackles. If you are not able to take the ball, then the carrier can easily pass at you.
Be as fast as you can, get the ball first if someone tries to pass to your opponent. Look out for more passes than you can intercept from the defender.
When the opponent receives the ball while playing soccer, do not let him turn towards the goal. If he has the ball and is facing the goal, then do not give him any room to shoot the ball. Stay close to the ball, so that you can block it if he shoots. Move with your opponents movements. Be on your toes and if you must give your opponent room, then do it towards the sidelines. By this, he can move away from the goal.
While playing soccer, use your team to support you if you are on the defending end. Having a team mate behind you will help you take the ball away from the opponent. Never ever try to reach in to swipe for the ball.
If you do this, then the opposing player would dribble right past you. Stay close and wait. Be as aggressive as you can, but remember to stay within the legal limits. Your opponent should be thinking about you and nothing else on the field.
You can learn how to become a good defender in football if you know about the speed and the other abilities of the opposing team. You can compare them with yours and in turn improve your abilities.
Try deception as another trick. If your opponent considers you passive, go ahead and surprise him. Wait for the player to make a mistake and go in. Stay goal side- between your player and the goal.
The abovementioned tips would prove very effective while playing soccer. Always remember to stay in front of your opponent so he is not able to shoot. Take the ball when he makes a mistake. Pass the ball to someone in your team who is free.
Hope all these points would have provided you with all the necessary information on how to be a good defender in soccer. How To Be A Good Defender In Soccer | Soccer Skills | How To Play Soccer
