Why Is Teaching Trapping A Soccer Ball Important?

The coaches consider teaching trapping a soccer ball as one of the most important techniques in playing soccer. Trapping is a useful element while learning the soccer skill drills. Always stand on the balls of your feet and keep your knees slightly bent while trapping. The various parts of your body are used as shock absorbers when trapping a ball.

While coaching trapping a football ball, one of the techniques is to give in with the ball while trapping, as if the soccer ball is an egg. The players have to be taught to use the foot to capture the descending ball.

Get in front of the ball to capture it while it is still in the air. You can even join a soccer online course if you do not have a good coaching facility in your area.

Ways Of Teaching Trapping A Soccer Ball

•  Always trap with the sole or the inside of the foot.

•  When the ball is coming towards the ground, touch it with the top of the foot lightly. Give in with the ball or you would lose control over it.

•  Create a chest trap by flexing the chest muscles so as to create a shock absorber for the soccer ball. Lean backwards and give in with the ball.

•  Lift your leg up and trap the soccer ball with your thigh. Give with the ball for control.

The coach has to train the players to anticipate the arrival of the ball. When it reaches the foot, the player would need to pull his leg back to slow the ball. This is also called the cushioning of the ball. If the player does not pull back his foot, then he would lose control over it. While coaching young players, start trapping training with the inside of the foot.

You can even consider a soccer online course to learn the techniques and drills of soccer. These courses offer you a variety of programs, where you can pick one which best suits your needs.

Under training, the player would soon learn that he can use his shin and ankle for wildly bouncing balls. You can even trap the ball with your thigh more effectively, as it is a larger part of your body.

Stand on one foot and raise the other knee to meet your chest. Continue practicing till you are able to roll the ball from the thigh to the feet. Teaching trapping a soccer ball using the chest follows a slightly different approach.

For trapping the ball with the chest, the players would need to come in front of the ball which is coming towards them. The player has to push out his chest to receive the ball coming towards him. Coaches must make a note of the fact that while teaching trapping a soccer ball with the chest, they must not involve young players.
