How To Perform A Flying Side Kick In Soccer
You need to attain a certain amount of skill to kick the ball properly, especially if it is a flying side kick in soccer. Just kicking the ball around is not going to make you a good player. You need to know the techniques of kicking properly.
Some of the most common types of kicks are the goal kick, the penalty kick, the soccer scissor kick, the side kick, free kick etc.
In a flying side kick, you need to get your standing posture right by keeping the kicking leg at the back. The most commonly followed position is to keep the right leg back and a couple of inches on the right.
The body is to be turned almost to the side and the hands are to be kept up. The position of hands is important. The right hand remains at the side of the chin and the left arm about a foot or so in front of the left shoulder. Now take a few steps in front.
Before kicking the ball, jump off the other leg (left leg), while you push hard your right leg as high as possible towards your chest. At the same time, turn your body sideways while you get your left leg close to the body. The last stage is when you push your right leg out so as to make contact with the ball.
The foot should be more or less parallel to the field, to be more perfect, the toes should be slightly pointing downward. While carrying out the flying side kick in soccer, make sure that you finally come to rest safely on your feet.
Another very common kicking style is the bicycle or the soccer scissors kick. In this, the player thrusts his whole body into the air. As he is airborne, he makes a cutting (pedaling) movement with his legs and finally kicks the ball with maximum power.
This is an athletic kicking style and needs a lot of practice for perfection. This kicking style is particularly useful when the player functions as the striker with his back to the opponent's goal box.
It is also used in instances when a player wants to remove the ball from his penalty kick region and has his back in the wrong direction.
Performing the soccer scissors kick is a risky style. This is so because when you thrust yourself into the air, you could land up hitting someone's head instead of the ball.
Kicking the soccer ball is something that anyone can do, but what makes a difference is kicking it the right way at the right instance so that you score a winning goal for your team.
Whether it is the flying side kick in soccer or the bicycle kick, or any kicking style, practice and more practice will make you master this art.
