Women's Soccer Free Kick - Help Your Girls Learn The Right Technique

Women's soccer is an established game today drawing larger crowds than any other sports in the world. Hence, let us discuss some wonderful ideas about coaching girls the best soccer kicks and more specifically about teaching women's soccer free kick.

Soccer Free Kick - The Right Approach

Free kicks are those that can change the entire fate of the game. If you want your girls to perform soccer kicks like those of David Beckham and Frank Lampard, then teach them the right movements.

Ask the player to place the ball on the edge of the area. She should run across the direction of the goal and approach the ball at an angle, with a relaxed movement. The right movement for a free kick would be to keep the standing leg still and pointed forwards the target at an angle.

Now the kicking leg should swing without bending concentrating towards the goal. The right way to hit the ball for a free kick is to hit it with the left or right corner of the foot. It is exactly where the toe ends and the foot begins.

Making your players hit the ball from underneath will give the ball sufficient lift to take it over the wall. Moreover, when the foot comes across and around, the ball will spin and bend.

Some Soccer Shooting Drills To Improve Their Soccer Kicks

Let your girls practice the following simple drills to enhance their skills of women's soccer free kick:

  • Drill 1: There should be three players in each team A and B with two goalkeepers. The teams should stay in their own half and the goalkeeper of team A will serve the ball to one of the players within her half. The player can either shoot herself or setup a teammate to shoot the ball. The team B at the other end will block the shots. The goalkeeper of team B will get a chance to serve a new ball to her team when the ball shot by the player of team A goes out of bounds.
  • Drill 2: Place some disks within a considerable distance around near the penalty box line. There can be three to five players in this game and a player has to start the drill by standing at the #1 position and try to shoot a goal. If she scores, she can move to the #2 position and try a shot. The player will move around from each of the positions and go on making goals. If she misses the goal, it is the turn for the other player to start again from the #1 position. Whoever scores from all the positions is declared the winner.
The above ideas will definitely help the girls master the perfect soccer kicks and the right technique of women's soccer free kick.
