Soccer Skill Moves - For That Winning Edge

Soccer training needs to be rigorous, well planned and most of all, it has to be lots of fun for the players. Teaching soccer skill moves requires expertise and good knowledge of soccer. The basic goal of a player should be to learn a skill by repetition until it becomes second nature to him.

Learning a move by visualization is a great method to perfect soccer skills. Learn football soccer skills by watching a quality game on TV. There is nothing to match watching a star player make a skilful move to dodge his opponent. You can adopt this method whether you are a beginner or a veteran in the game.

Soccer Skills

Here are some fundamental skills that are very important in soccer.

Ball control - Ball control constitute receiving and trapping. Receiving means redirecting the ball into space to enable you to dribble or kick on the move. Trapping means stopping the ball right at your feet.

The best way to practice ball control is with a partner. Ask your partner to throw the ball at you or kick by foot. Stop and settle the ball with a single neat touch and pass it back to him. Practice this repeatedly until your actions appear agile and graceful.

Striking the ball - In soccer this is also called kicking. The two broad types of kicks are ground kicks and volleys. Practice striking the ball in the following way.

Have a keeper consistently serve a ball back to you. If that is not possible, a wall or a flat surface can do just as well. A beginner can practice by kicking a dead ball, which means settling the ball before the kick.

As you go along, practice by striking the ball without settling it first. Practice makes one perfect. Practice striking the ball with resolve and the results will amaze you.

Dribbling - Dribbling is all about how to move the ball to take on your defenders. This is among the most important soccer skill moves. The various ways to dribble are with the inside, outside, instep and the sole of your foot.

Practice dribbling the following way. Run with the ball and change direction. At the same time, remember the ball should be well under your control. When you pick up speed, take care not to kick the ball very far ahead, lest you lose control of the ball.

Most important of all, look around you in the field and don't just fix your eyes on the ball. Do this yourself; see veterans doing it on the field, and watch TV to know how pros do it.

The final objective of soccer skill moves should be smooth effective motion and the ability to transition between different techniques. Learn soccer skills with brute dedication. After all, you need to have a cutting edge to score goals and win the game.
