Soccer Drill Diagrams For Ages 7-14

By Andre Botelho (SoccerDrillsTips.com)

When you make soccer drill diagrams for ages 7-14 as part of your session lesson plan, there are many important points to remember. Here is a quick checklist that will help you make them effective.

  • The session you devise should take into account number of members on the team.
  • The activities chosen must progress from the easy to the difficult – make a list here of how you plan to increase the difficulty level.
  • Your session must incorporate a warm-up, a small-sided activity plus a six versus six game involving two big goals.
  • Drill diagrams must be included at the right places in your soccer lesson plan with details of the points you wish to highlight and how you want to organize them.
  • Your drill diagrams must be easy to understand and include the play area size. Use easy indications for pass, run, dribble and neutral players.
  • What is the aim of the game? List these along with how you plan to score them.
  • Any restriction you plan to use must be relevant to your game’s aim.
  • Make a note of the measurements of the play area so any alterations required can be handled in the course of the session.
  • The activities planned must be relevant to the game.

Soccer practice must be meaningful for the players. Your players should have good comprehension of the relevance of practice to the game. This is why the objectives you list must be age-specific and achievable. The soccer instructions you give them must be succinct and short. Remember that it is always best to include activities that simulate the actual game.

After you set up the training sessions ensure that you communicate to your 7-14 age group using words that are easy for them to understand even though they might know quite a lot already. Each player must be communicated the reason for the soccer training drill so that they understand why this particular skill is being taught to them.

As a coach you have the duty to constantly evaluate the players during the practice session. By making a note of their plus points and the areas that need improvement in, you can design your training sessions and soccer drill diagrams for ages 7-14 accordingly. This will enable them use them during the game.
