Soccer Lessons To Teach Shooting Skills
Soccer lessons that develop various skills form a part of the youth soccer training sessions conducted by a coach for his team players. There are many drills that can help players develop their shooting skills. At the time of practice, these drills bring out the spirit of competition in the teams, encouraging them to strive seriously to succeed.
- Drill That Aims For the Goal
Position yourself about twenty meters from the goal. Let your players arrange themselves in two lines, with one line on your left and the other on the right side. Now kick the ball aiming for the goal. Instruct each of your players to run for the ball and shoot.
You may or may not choose to have in this soccer drill a goalkeeper. This drill helps your players improve the first touch and to shoot. You can also call upon one player out of each of the lines to contend for the ball.
- Drill That Strikes the Cone
Arrange cones, placing them about 48 inches from each other, forming a line. Now divide your players into two, so that one group is standing in a line on one side of the cones and the other group is standing on the other side, facing the first group.
You will now have two players standing opposite each other, with a cone between them, at a distance of 20 meters. Now instruct the players to shoot at the cone, one by one.
When a player misses the cone, his associate must try to trap the ball, and shoot at the cone. Each player does this for a minute, trying to hit the cone as many times as is possible. Players enjoy this drill while developing their skills.
- Drill - Five Cones Knock Down
This is guaranteed to have your players having fun. This drill resembles a regular soccer strategy game. In place of goals, you arrange five cones on either goal line. No goalkeeper is used here and the players of both teams play and shoot. The team that manages to hit all the cones first, will win the game.
Soccer lessons must always be made interesting, so that your players look forward to each practice session. Just routine drills that are repetitive can get your players bored in no time. Game like situations are found the most effective, as the players also get to connect the skills they learn to the game.
