If you are a new coach and are looking for how to start teaching youth soccer, the following soccer articles and tips may put you on the right path:
- Since, you are teaching soccer drills for youth to young players, it is important for you to discourage them to make long passes because the chances are that they will end up making inaccurate passes.
- You must teach them regarding the importance of pace, distance, and accuracy, in making passes to team-mates. Among all the three basic elements of making a good pass, accuracy is the most important.
An inaccurate pass, no matter how tactically they have been made, is useless and instead of helping you win the match, they can put your team on the loser’s side.
- While teaching youth soccer, you should also encourage the player to keep the possession of the ball in situations, when there are no team-mates around the ball carrier to take passes.
However, it does not mean that they should try to go ahead with the ball and attempt scoring goals.
It just means that they don’t have to lose the possession of the ball, until they find a suitable time and opportunity to make a successful pass to the team-mate.
